Super 8 is the new sci-fi movie on the block! The title actually refers to the name of a movie that a group of friends are trying to make. The story commences with Joe Lamb losing his mother in a factory accident, when he was just 13. Joe's father, the local sheriff, is unable to control his stream of emotions and holds another factory worker, Louis Dainard, responsible for his wife's death as she was covering his shift. The story takes an interesting turn, when, after a few years, Joe's friend Charles starts making a movie named 'Super 8' and casts Louis's daughter, Alice, as the lead. For shooting a particular scene of the movie, Joe, Charles, Alice and their other friends, head to a stranded old train depot. When they reach, they witness a train getting derailed and are astonished to find big white cubes in the train wreck. But more surprising than that, is the fact that the man driving the train is the kids' biology teacher at school, Dr. Woodward. Dr. Woodward orders the kids to flee from there and not talk about the same to anyone, threatening them with dire consequences. In the next couple of days, strange happenings begin to unfurl in the little town of Lillian. People's appliances start vanishing and Alice gets abducted.
