Synopsis

After his 2009 hit film, ‘The Messenger’, director Oren Moverman makes his highly-awaited comeback with ‘Rampart’, which tells the story of an old cop, struggling to keep up with the new ways of the police department.

Woody Harrelson portrays Dave Brown, a hardened cop, who wishes to believe that he is the reigning king of the police department. However, unfortunately, his experience seems to be working against him, as the younger and more efficient cops are clearly the preferred men in action. Brown refuses to believe that he is in any way less competent than the newbies, and his grumpy nature only makes the situation worse. As you watch Rampart online, you will find yourself at a crossroads as you try to figure out whether to love this character or hate him. The violent and aggressive style of this cop lands him in trouble, each time he sets off to work on a task, but his brutal honesty and high sense of self-worth make it impossible to hate him. What makes the movie even more intriguing than Dave is the fact that it is based on real-life events that took place a few years back in the New York Police Department.

Oren Moverman once again manages to strike the perfect balance between unrelenting thrill, and heart-wrenching emotions, as he takes us the whole way from Brown’s home, where he is a deeply loved father, to the police department, where he is vehemently detested.
