Synopsis

Joyful Noise is a deeply moving tale of the hope and resilience of two women, who believe in themselves, as they take on the helm of a small town choir, following its director’s death.

The film, directed by Todd Graff, stars Queen Latifah in the role of Vi Rose Hill, a headstrong mother of two teenagers, who singlehandedly takes on the responsibility of keeping the choir alive. She puts to work an unusual technique of gospel singing, raising eyebrows all over the town. She has to face a strong opponent all through, G.G. Sparrow, portrayed by Dolly Parton, who is the deceased director’s wife. Sparrow believes that the choir’s responsibility should have been entrusted to her, which causes her to rebel against Vi.
