Synopsis

Essential Killing is the story of a Taliban soldier in Afghanistan, who is captured by the American army for killing two American soldiers on patrol. Mohammed is interrogated very harshly by the American army officials, but he does not give them any information about the whereabouts of his fellow Taliban soldiers.

This is due to the fact that Mohammed has partially lost his hearing ability, owing to a bomb explosion. As the story progresses, Mohammed finds himself being transported to a prison in an unknown European country. However, the van that was transporting Mohammed and five other prisoners, meets with an accident. Mohammed manages to sneak away and escapes in midst of the stream of confusion, caused by the rolling over of the van. Free in the new country, Mohammed struggles to survive in the extreme cold, without proper food, supplies or even warm clothing!
