Synopsis

Tony Kaye’s latest release focuses on a soul’s desire to hide his talent from this loveless and savage world that he fears will only disgrace and not value it the way it should be. Henry Barthes, the protagonist, is portrayed as an educator blessed with a talent to emotionally connect to people around and instill in them precious values for life. Upon his entry into the institution, he decides to remain tight-lipped regarding his talent and depicts himself as another ordinary teacher.

As we get on to watch Detachment online, we find him taking up the job of a substitute teacher, and trying to not to remain anywhere for long in order to ensure that he did not connect to students at all. He continues living life in the same manner with a belief that it is better this way. Soon, events take an unnatural turn, and he is offered a new assignment in a public school with its student body soaked in apathy caused by a worn-out and frustrated administrative body.
