Synopsis

Daydream Nation follows the story of Caroline Wexter, a 17-year-old girl, who has just moved with her widowed father from a big city to a small suburban town. She feels like a big fish in a small pond, and finds everyone at her new school way more inferior than her.

However, there is one exception, a young man, who makes her heart beat faster and matches up to her urbane expectations of her dreamboat lover. The only problem is that he is her teacher, Mr. Anderson (Josh Lucas). As she leads him into the forbidden territory of a teacher-student romance, things are further complicated by an additional presence; Thurston Goldberg, an adorable guy at her school, who is going through a troubled phase in his life.
