'Cave of Forgotten Dreams’ is a 3-D documentary that takes you on a journey down history lane. The movie is a brave attempt by filmmaker Werner Herzog, to capture the ancient art of the Chauvet caves, in southern France.
This cave is known to be one of the oldest caves, where paintings and sculptures from prehistoric times have been discovered. The paintings and sculptures are unique and give an insight into the life and thoughts of early man. However, the Chauvet cave is not accessible to the general public. Herzog took special permission to shoot in the cave for six days. Only 3 other people were allowed in the cave with him, and they could not be inside the cave for more than four hours a day, owing to the toxic levels of radon and carbon dioxide. They could not even touch anything! Download Cave of Forgotten Dreams to witness this intriguing prehistoric art, which you will never be able to see for yourself, unless of course, you have permission from the French ministry!
The reason for making the film in the 3-D format is because the artists who made these ancient paintings and sculptures took the help of, or followed, the contours of the cave walls. Hence, the beauty of their creations can be appreciated in a much better way, if filmed in a 3-D format. There is a whole stream of paintings of men, animals and lifestyle, during prehistoric times. Watch Cave of Forgotten Dreams online to witness ancestral art come to life!
