Synopsis

A Separation (Jodaiye Nader Az Simin) is an intense film that tells the story of an Iranian couple, Nader and Simin, who, after 14 years of marriage, decide to get separated.

The bone of contention between them is their disagreement on the country that they wish to reside in. While Simin believes that their 11-year old daughter, Termeh, has a better future in a foreign country, Nader is not willing to immigrate, and instead, he wishes to live with his father, a patient of Alzheimer’s in Iran. There on, the movie takes a riveting twist, as Simin moves back to her parents’ house, while Termeh stays back with her father and grandfather.
